Hey Y’all!

My name is Hyatt Mamoun I'm a young filmmaker based in the American South. I’m a Producer/Shooter, presenter, narrator, editor and colorist. I’ve been referred to as a “Jane of all Trades”!

While my passion lies in sharing my curiosity about our natural world, I've worked on a wide variety of projects from producing and shooting for the US National Park Service, to producing a series of short films for the United Nations, to working in post-production with National Geographic, and even a producing marketing campaign for Salesforce. I know the ins and outs of all sorts of projects from Broadcast TV series, to blue chip Natural History films, to marketing and social media pieces.

On a typical day, you'll find me face-to-face filming my favorite critters like alligators, black bears and parrotfish!

Here’s the long version

Since I was a lil’ shrimp, I’ve always been an entertainer.

I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia where I started making movies at age 12, inspired by everything from The Crocodile Hunter and The Jeff Corwin Experience to Star Wars. After starting my high school’s news show and graduating, I went on down to the low country and got my BFA in Film and Television at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah Georgia. There, I produced and directed two multi-award winning natural history documentaries, Fate of the Mustang , which documented the history of wild horses in the American west and their future, and The Strand, in which we captured the first 4k footage of the extremely rare feeding strategy of low country bottlenose dolphins.

I then subsequently earned my MFA in Wildlife and Environmental Filmmaking at American University in Washington, DC. While in DC I worked with National Geographic on their #1 Rated, Critics Choice nominated show, The Incredible Dr. Pol. I then worked on a variety of projects that brought me everywhere from Vienna, Austria, to the Bahamas, and I even worked on a major historical project with the FBI and US House of Representatives. During COVID, I brought viewers on an adventure though South Carolina’s Lowcountry in my first on-camera series, where I fell in love with presenting my passion in front of camera, following my lifelong inspiration, Steve Irwin- sharing with the world my curiosity for the animals in my backyard.

I’m now based between Miami and the ATL as a producer/shooter and presenter with my company, Southern Wild Films! I’ve led projects with my company for major clients such as the US National Park Service and Morgan Stanley as well as working on independent blue chip wildlife films. Recently, I’ve been producing a groundbreaking 360-degree UX x Documentary project for Virginia Tech School of Veterinary medicine while producing, shooting and presenting a new series in the Great Smoky Mountains.

My motto is "Conservation through Entertainment and Education," and that's just what I aim to do with my work. I want to make nature feel approachable for everyone, no matter where you come from, your physical ability or background. When I can make that connection between our viewers and animals, I can inspire others to defend our natural world. I'm all about protecting our wild places and critters, while showin' off the natural beauty of the world.

So come on, y'all! Let's explore the wonders of the natural world together, and have a little fun while we're at it.

Stay Wild!
